The Lascivious Biddies, an all female cocktail pop quartet based in New York City, have earned a reputation for having an energetic and tightly woven live show, full of laughter, expert musicianship and a dash of sentimentality.

At SXSW 2005 the Biddies made a splash with the media and fans alike. "If the Donnas are rock's answer to girl power, then the Lascivious Biddies are jazz's answer to female singularity." (The Austin American-Statesman).

The Washington Post calls them "Manhattan's Hippest Girl Group." According to Time Out New York, the Biddies' second album, Get Lucky, overflows with "angelic vocal harmonies, wordy humor, jazz chops and pop moxie."

CBS Evening News confirms: "The Lascivious Biddies could teach us all a thing or two."

To your Star Wars comments:
I wouldn't say it was totally devastating since we all knew what would happen to Anakin. But I must say it was a long time ago since I last dropped a tear in a cinema. It was really moving, seeing his wife die in pain not knowing that he's the one that wound her fatally. And how Natalie Portman acted out that heartbreaking scene on Mustafar (that lava planet) was hardly bearable.
I mean when a movie premieres and there are reporters outside with clicking cameras people don't usually give in to their feelings. But there were grown men that had their face messed up when the lights went on. Crikey, they must've been thankful for the backdoor exit.

Here's a link to a more light-hearted take on the film. A Lost Hope

A reading list from the Biddies... hmmm...

Byatt's Possession
The Shipping News

nahhhh

Hurrah for Anna Karenina

I admit to being more of a SciFi, fantasy geek at the moment. I'll also lose myself in a good thriller, ala Follet's Jackdaws or Berry's The Amber Room or Gorky Park.

I can also recommend Solzhenitsyn's Gulag Archipelago for the self-punishing among ya'll. Yes, I've read them... and I look back on that 6 months or so as a great time spent.

Love the books.
