The Lascivious Biddies, an all female cocktail pop quartet based in New York City, have earned a reputation for having an energetic and tightly woven live show, full of laughter, expert musicianship and a dash of sentimentality.
At SXSW 2005 the Biddies made a splash with the media and fans alike. "If the Donnas are rock's answer to girl power, then the Lascivious Biddies are jazz's answer to female singularity." (The Austin American-Statesman).
The Washington Post calls them "Manhattan's Hippest Girl Group." According to Time Out New York, the Biddies' second album, Get Lucky, overflows with "angelic vocal harmonies, wordy humor, jazz chops and pop moxie."
CBS Evening News confirms: "The Lascivious Biddies could teach us all a thing or two."
Help! My family is going to be in New Hope PA this weekend (visiting nearby Sesame Place.) We are HUGE Biddy fans, and would love to see one of the shows at Odette's. If any Philly-area folks know of a reliable baby sitter who could come to our hotel Fri. or Sat. night it would absolutely make our week.
Enjoyed the show. You asked about the heyday of Niagara Falls. It really started as a tourist area just before the Civil War with the arrival of railroads and the building of hotels.
Though the area had developed some industry to take advantage of the available water power for mills and other factories, the falls became a honeymoon destination with the arrival of luxury railroads like The Lehigh Valley Black Diamond train in the mid 1890's. That train was nicknamed "The Honeymoon Express."
Westinghouse and his partners also built the electrical power dams to feed NYC via the then new technology of AC power during the same decade.
Keep up the good work - please consider a trip to the DC area sometime soon. If you want to continue with your tradition of visiting tourist areas when there are not many crowds, I recommend coming in August. No one comes here then.
