The Lascivious Biddies, an all female cocktail pop quartet based in New York City, have earned a reputation for having an energetic and tightly woven live show, full of laughter, expert musicianship and a dash of sentimentality.

At SXSW 2005 the Biddies made a splash with the media and fans alike. "If the Donnas are rock's answer to girl power, then the Lascivious Biddies are jazz's answer to female singularity." (The Austin American-Statesman).

The Washington Post calls them "Manhattan's Hippest Girl Group." According to Time Out New York, the Biddies' second album, Get Lucky, overflows with "angelic vocal harmonies, wordy humor, jazz chops and pop moxie."

CBS Evening News confirms: "The Lascivious Biddies could teach us all a thing or two."

What Deidre is Listening To Right Now

It's a Tuesday night and I'm taking a break from working on arrangements for the upcoming DOWNTOWN HOLIDAY show at Joe's Pub on December 19th (9:30) to listen to some music as I enjoy looking at the Biddies archives. The holidays always make me a bit nostalgic. It's amazing how much we've done in our five years together. Makes me smile. Thanks, Biddy Buddies, for sticking with us!

SO what's in my iPod these days?

The Randy Newman Songbook- Vol. 1
-I saw him at Carnegie Hall this fall and cried, it was so good! It's the perfect combination of wit and beauty.

Nellie McKay-Pretty Little Head
-I was on a Roy Nathanson show with her (also Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson and Dan Zanes and Debbie Harry, who gave me lots of makeup) and she was very nice. I like that she follows the beat of her own drummer, so to speak.

The Old Ceremony-Our One Mistake
-this is Biddy Buddy Django's rock band, which I saw recently at the Living Room and they ROCKED it!!

Nancy King and Fred Hersch-Live at the Jazz Standard
-Congrats on your Grammy nomination, Nancy! If you haven't heard her yet, you MUST. She is one of the last true jazz vocal legends around and she is incredible. I was lucky enough to have her sing at my wedding. She's the real thing.

The Muppets-Green and Red Christmas
-what's not to love?? Lee Ann are admitted full-on Christmas dorks. We love it! We played for the Battery Park City Tree Lighting last week and fully freaked out when Santa arrived. That Santa RULED-he was so full of holiday cheer. We sang carols and raided the cookies. Our version of "12 Days of Christmas" was particularly festive. We also did The Chipmunks Song, which we'll do at Joe's and in LIC next week.

Well, that's it for now. More later, whenever I feel like playing hooky from writing music. Be sure to come out to the holiday show on Tuesday, or if you can't make it there, come and see us Wed. Dec. 20th in LIC! I'm also very excited for 2007-we have lots of stuff brewing.

To all a good night--

Biddy Deidre

I picked up Diana Krall's Christmas Songs the other day. Full of the old stand-bys done with a jazz twist and her awesome voice.

Happy Holidays!
