The Lascivious Biddies, an all female cocktail pop quartet based in New York City, have earned a reputation for having an energetic and tightly woven live show, full of laughter, expert musicianship and a dash of sentimentality.

At SXSW 2005 the Biddies made a splash with the media and fans alike. "If the Donnas are rock's answer to girl power, then the Lascivious Biddies are jazz's answer to female singularity." (The Austin American-Statesman).

The Washington Post calls them "Manhattan's Hippest Girl Group." According to Time Out New York, the Biddies' second album, Get Lucky, overflows with "angelic vocal harmonies, wordy humor, jazz chops and pop moxie."

CBS Evening News confirms: "The Lascivious Biddies could teach us all a thing or two."

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

For those of you who are not New Yorkers, there is a wonderful event every Thanksgiving Eve here in Manhattan. All around the Museum of Natural History, the big balloons that you see floating above the crowds during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade wait to begin the march. You can walk right up to them in the night and have a good luck. Let me tell you, Kermit didn't look so happy on his nose.

Happy Thanksgiving Biddy Buddies!!!!!

Sesac for The Holidays

Ben Struck (our production mgr), Trevor Gale (Sesac) & Saskia

Monday November 22, The Biddies had a great time playing for Sesac (our performance rights organization) and an assortment of representatives of other international performance rights orgs. There were cocktails, a big ol' Christmas tree and some other great music, including Lauren Kinhan of New York Voices.

Boston: We Was Robbed!!!!

Well, Biddy Buddies, I suppose it was inevitable. While The Biddies were on the road this last time (in an otherwise hospitible Boston) we were ROBBED. Some jerk broke into where we were sleeping and stole our keyboard, keyboard amp, my laptop and Amanda's new Brian Moore Guitar that she had been playing for only four days.

We were terribly shaken up. We are all innocents insome respect, still believing that that kind of thing could never happen to us. Well, according to D's friend Roy Nathenson, we've arrived!

We would like to extend mad props to our hosts Dave & Steph for taking good care of us by being sweet, supplying us with coffee & sandwiches and having good homeowner's insurance. Mad props also extend to Boston Guitar Works. On the good word of the company's president, they loaned us a gorgeous new Brian Moore for our last show. It worked out great.

Mad props also to D's good friend who NEVER normally lends out her keyboard. She just felt somewhere in he gut that she needed to let us use it, and I gotta say - THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!!!

Boston Herald Article!!!

Texas Playboys with Dave Frishberg-like goofy/smart lyrics, major-league instrumental chops and a pop-meets-jazz streak that never takes itself too seriously.

The Biddies LOOOOOVE Adam Curry...but not in THAT way.

Have any of you heard of Ipodder or Podcasting? It's an amazing & relatively new technology that allows users to set their computer to regularly & automatically download audio content from the web to their MP3 players. There are lots of people doing it, from indie audio blog do it your selfers to NPRs On The Media & TV stations in Arkansas. The Biddies would like to be there too, someday. We are looking into having our live shows available for podcast the day after performance.

Anyway, Biddy Lee Ann sent a fan letter to Adam Curry (big-hair VJ from early MTV who is an originator of the technology) and he not only wrote back, but featured us in his podcast: The Daily Source Code.

As a result we are all a little faint.

Download Ipodder Software

Amanda Monaco is a cover girl!

Look! We made the front page of The Record-Journal's Entertainment section!

Each member of the quintet is in her early 30s, and says guitarist Amanda Monaco, "Everybody in the band is a geek, but we're proud of that.

What Kind of Elitest are you?

This is a pretty hilarious quiz. "What Kind of Elitest are you?"

Answer for as anonymous Biddy?

Name the era, and you can name every artist from it. You've got an eye for design and a knack for feng shui. Color schemes, architecture, and objets d'art - these are all your fortes. What people love: You're the perfect person to shop with. What people hate: They have to clean their house whenever you come over.

Send us yours!!!

The Record Industry & Your Legislators

The Senate might vote on HR2391, the Intellectual Property Protection Act, a comprehensive bill that opponents charge could make many users of peer-to-peer networks, digital-music players and other products criminally liable for copyright infringement. The bill would also undo centuries of "fair use" -- the principle that gives Americans the right to use small samples of the works of others without having to ask permission or pay.

The preceding is an excerpt from WIRED Magazine. (for the article click HERE). The Biddies would NEVER presume to tell you how to feel about this issue, but should you have an opinion on it, we WOULD engourage you to write your congressperson about it! You can find information on contacting said congressperson here at CastThatBallot.com.

Incidentally, do you know about THOMAS? (click here to see it) THOMAS is a site where you can go to read up on EVERYTHING that Congress is working on - ALL OF IT! Cool, huh? The Bill in question is located here.

This is Di Fara Pizza. It's not news that the pizza is amazing. In fact, Dom DiFara seems to ba having his glory days in the spotlight judging from the press quotes all over his walls. That does NOT change his slow delicious pizza. Worth a trip to Midwood - where The Biddies just played a concert for Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert Series at the Midwood Library. Brooklyn baby. It's in the water. Posted by Hello

Have a look at some photos of The Biddies in October!

11-9-04 The Ultimate in Irony

11-9-04 The Ultimate in Irony

On Thursday November 4, The Biddies played for a hundred nuns in support of the Cabrini Mission Foundation down at Chelsea Piers' Pier 60. We were thrilled to lend our talents to this worthy organization, and even more thrilled and surprised to find a kindred spirit in the CEO & Director of CMF Sister Bernadette. (sorry for the blurry pic)

THANK YOU FOR PERMISSION, Meryl
