Providence Press!
For our debut show in Providence Rhode Island, we actually got a great blurb in the paper!
Have a look...
Biddies strut their stuff
The Lascivious Biddies push the sexy, both in their name and in the way they sell themselves, but what the New York female quartet really has going on is chops and intelligence.
They're all serious jazz players and/or conservatory types who start with cocktail-lounge pop and take it from there into country, jazz and more. On their Get Lucky CD, somewhere between the world-weary compassion of "Betty," the strut of "Famous" and the sneer of "Intellectual" (not to mention the smart covers of The Smiths' "Ask" and, more predictably, Peggy Lee's "You Don't Own Me"), they'll draw you in.
They're at the Hi-Hat, 3 Davol Square, Providence, Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15; call (401) 453-6500.
Tell your friends in Rhode Island to high-tail it out!

CD Baby totally ROX
If you remember, The Biddies donated proceeds from CD sales to Katrina's victims for a while. Thought you might like to know how that worked out:
From the CD Baby Newsletter:
The Red Cross charity promotion we did after Hurricane Katrina finished today, raising a total of $165,060 paid directly to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through our local Portland Oregon branch. (You should have seen their faces when we brought in that very first check, in person, for $113,000!)
We donated $40,000 of our own CD Baby money too, in case you were wondering. So - altogether, that's $165,060 from the artists, $40,000 from CD Baby = $205,060 donated. I hope it helps!
Go check out CD Baby. It a wonderful place to find independent artists from all genres, and they ship worldwide!!!

Breathing Easier - THANKS!
Thanks folks for your kind words during my (Lee Ann's) meltdown a few posts ago. I have come to some conclusions regarding my computer situation (and treated myself to a tax-write-off-able video ipod). I think if I just update my OS and get the new Garageband, I'll be alright for some time to come. Might have to get some more RAM too.
This sure is exciting talk for a hard-partying band's website, no? Apologies for those of you who came here looking for sex, drugs and...uh...oh yeah...Rock and roll!
Playing this week in NY & NJ:
October 22nd Watchung Arts Center in Watchung NJ
October 26th The Bubble Lounge NYC
Coming to Boston, VT, RI next weekend:
Oct 28th The Lizard Lounge w/The Candybutchers Cambridge MA
Oct 29th an unconfirmed show in VT: PerhapsThe Radio Bean
Oct 30th The Hi-Hat Providence RI
Hope we meet more and more of you!!!
:)

This is post 76
I have to confess (Lee Ann here) - I am in the middle of a somewhat long annoyed streak - falling rapidly into an IIC.** I run Panther on my iBook, and the latest update of iTunes 5.1 seems to have given it some horrible wasting disease. iTunes won't import anything over 3 mins, and now my MP3s won't even drag into GarageBand. They do, rather, but a 50 minute file appears with a wave that is only 10 seconds long. It's maddening! My neighbor and bandmate Amanda has a *sweet* powerbook I am sure I could make the podcast on, but she is not only overworked, but involved in playing music for the high holy days.
Do you feel sorry for me yet? You don't have to. I am actually in a pretty good mood today. The contents of that little rant, however, is why we are short on BiddyCasts right now. I re-installed my OS and it STILL doesn't work. And I don't have time for the genius bar at The Apple Store! It stinks. I have a bunch of footage from our last tour to organize and post for you folks, and it's making me crazy that I am not able to.
Al that aside, we've had a really really busy but excellent week. First of all, it's the Jewish high holy days: Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur. Many of you know this, I am sure, but many may not. New York City during these holy days is like much of the country at Christmas-time. People are absent from work, not too much gets done.
This weekend, Deidre and I had our first experience at NACA (www.naca.org) - The National Association for Campus Activities. NACA is basically a clearinghouse where musicians and other entertainment providers can peddle their wares for the student activities committees of hundreds of colleges and universities. This NACA conference was in Lancaster, PA and was attended by schools from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia & West Virginia. It was incredibly intense! There were almost 1000 attendees, and every moment of every day from 9am to 12:30 am had something to do in it. D and I came home pretty damn wiped out, but really excited about all the information and experiences we gathered.
So, many apologies for the late BiddyCast. I am now accepting donations of new Powerbooks (with the superdrive). Cash would do as well. Har dee har har!
We send you Biddy Love!
xoxo
